Breast Pump FAQ
Massachusetts residents can choose pumps from a variety of brands* pumps such Ardo, Ameda, Freemie™", Lansinoh®", Medela, Spectra, Unimom, Willow, and others offered by contracted DME providers. Find the one you prefer and we’ll cover the cost.

You can order a breast pump from any participating provider in your state’s Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. To find a provider, go to Find a Doctor and search "durable medical equipment" in your zip code.
You can apply the cost of a covered breast pump toward the cost of an alternative pump. Call Team Blue for more details.
Additional costs will only be incurred if an upgraded pump is chosen.

Members who live in Massachusetts can also get a breast pump from any DME provider that has a contract with us. You can visit Find a Doctor to find a durable medical equipment (DME) provider near you that carries breast pumps. Click on Medical Facility, select the Specialty tab, and choose DME-Breast Pumps from the drop-down menu. Enter your address and then choose your plan network.
As a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts member, your coverage may include the rental or purchase of a manual or dual electric breast pump for each birth without paying co-insurance or a deductible. We cover a breast pump from a participating DME provider with a prescription from your clinician. We don't cover hospital-grade breast pumps.
